Property Description

The 1800-acre London Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is leased by the SC Department of Natural Resources from Duke Energy Carolinas LLC. Located in the eastern portion of Cherokee County, London Creek can be accessed from both Hwy. 329 and McKowns Mountain Road. London Creek is a portion of the Lee Nuclear Site and was enlisted in the WMA program in September of 2019. The WMA program utilizes the money collected from WMA user permit sales to lease additional properties for hunting and other forms of outdoor recreation.

London Creek WMA possess a variety of habitat types. Open fields, planted pine forest, and mature hardwood forest components can be found throughout the WMA. Hunting opportunities are available during all regular Game Zone 2 seasons. Hunters have the opportunity to pursue, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and a variety of small game species on London Creek WMA. Current management activities include planting of small wildlife openings and conversion of fescue pastureland to natural vegetation. There are 8 ponds located on the property. These ponds are open for walk-in fishing, waterfowl hunting, and wildlife observation. None of the ponds are under fisheries management at this time. All Game Zone 2 seasons and bag limits apply.
