The Santee Cooper Tract is a 90 acre property located at the end of Hatchett Drive off Goldmine Road (Secondary Highway 108) approximately 4.3 miles north of the intersection of US Highway 176 and West Main Street (Secondary Highway 227) near Pacolet in Spartanburg County. It is owned by the Santee Cooper Public Service Authority but is leased by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as a wildlife management area (WMA).
Hunters utilizing this area must have a valid hunting license, wildlife management area permit and migratory bird permit if hunting doves. Dove hunting during the first season is on Saturday afternoons, only. Other game species can be hunted during the regular Game Zone 2 seasons. Other allowable activities such as wildlife viewing and hiking are permitted year around.
