Directions to Property
The preserve is about four hours from Columbia. Go 6 miles north of Walhalla on SC 28. Turn onto Whetstone Road, then Cassidy Bridge Road. Go 1 mile and watch closely for marker USFS Road 744 (Rich Mountain Road) on the left. Drive on USFS Road 744 about three miles of winding gravel road, then turn left on USFS Road 744I, then drive another mile to the hiking trail on your right. Parking space is limited. Hikers can climb a moderate to strenuous trail loop to the top of Buzzard Roost Mountain.
